Bush Signs Ultimate Authority

The Progressive (via Dvorak) reports that in the event of a catastrophic emergency, Bush has ordered that he has supreme authority. The only trouble is: he determines "catastrophic emergency," defined within the document as "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions."[1] Perhaps global warming is the catastrophic emergency he has in mind?

Bush's presidency could be defined as a "catastrophic emergency." More troops have died in Iraq than persons who died in 9/11. He got us there based on lies, and the spending on this war has placed our economy in a state of emergency that has a negative effect on most citizens of the U. S. The only exceptions are perhaps those very wealthy people who keep getting tax cuts at the expense of the rest of us and the people who own major stock in oil companies. (Of course, this is redundant.) As for government functions, the government seems to function for itself these days. Congress ignored the will of the people when it gave King George II, the extention on funding for the war without a timetable. We had a few brave Congress members who spoke for the people, but were they sincere, or are they all just running for president?

We have Rupert Murdock telling us what to think and CBS firing a General who dared to think and speak at the same time. We have people in government telling us that global warming does not exist, while the polar ice caps melt and more countries are flooded or burning up with droughts.
We have an Attorney General who suports torture, secret prisons, spying on private citizens and firing judges for their politics. A horse race judge was placed in charge of disaster management, and he fiddled while New Orleans blew away. Georgie said, " Good job!" Not only should Shrub, Jr. be stripped of his new exentsive powers, but he should also be impeached before he causes any further harm to our country. George Bush, Jr. is our nation's catastrophic emergency.
